Springview Quarry and Fir Wood, Flaunden Hill, Flaunden, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 0PR.
Description
Springview Quarry, Flaunden was a long established mineral site (chalk mineral) with woodland of approximately 21.4 acres (8.6 Ha) that lies within Hertfordshire and is set close to the border with Buckinghamshire and on the edge of the Chiltern Hills.
The site itself is located some 250 metres up a tree lined concrete access track which opens out into the quarry workings.  The area of the quarry amounts to some 11 acres (4.5 Ha).

The worked face is cut into the elevated eastern flank of the site so that the natural form of the land would slope down from east to west.
The County boundary runs north to south along the western edge of the site, along the edge of the access track whereupon it aligns with the road running south to Latimer.
Planning
It is in the Green Belt, but may be suitable for alternative uses STPP
The original conditional permission for the site was granted in 1955.  An application numbered 4/0532-98, submitted under the Review of Mineral Planning Permissions as required by the Environment Act 1995, provided an approved new schedule of planning conditions.

On the 6th May 2014 Hertfordshire County Council certified (Reference 4/0532-98 CM009) that the requirements in relation to aftercare at Springview Quarry had been complied with.
